GBC Photonics Smart Recode Device (SRD) programs optical modules to work with almost any network device on the market. It facilitates the management of the network infrastructure and helps to solve one of the most common problems in the configuration of a fiber optic link - incompatibility between the modules and the rest of the optical equipment.

GBC Photonics SRD modifies the configuration of SFP, SFP+, SFP28, SFP56, SFP-DD, SFP112, QSFP+, QSFP28, QSFP-DD, OSFP modules according to the relevant MSA standards. In addition to module programming, GBC Photonics SRD also enables:

2. significant simplification of purchasing and implementation processes in the field of optical modules

With the SRD Go app, you can quickly check the technical data of your GBC Photonics optical module. Once the module is coded with SRD, all technical data will be available online and updated regularly. They can be accessed at any time with a single click.

Simply scan the barcode on the label or enter the serial number to get detailed technical data. Each time you reprogram the transceiver with a GBC Photonics SRD device, the app will display the latest configuration. As of May 2025, SRD Go is the only supported software — older versions (SRD 1.2.6) are no longer functional.

Thanks to SRD's Proof of Concept (PoC), we are able to respond quickly to the needs of our customers. The engineering team can make changes almost immediately. We have all the information we need in the cloud, which means that you do not need to send modules back to us.

Thanks to its compact design, the SRD 5 can also work in the field, powered by a power bank, laptop, smartphone or USB-PD port. This makes the device fully mobile.
